RULES OF CARD GAME BEZIQUE

BASIC RULES

Bezique is game for two players, using a 64-card deck consisting of 2 shortened packs of 32 cards, which omit 2 to 6 in each suit. Each player is dealt 8 cards. The remaining cards form the stock. The top card of stock is turned up to establish the trump suit. Game is usually 1000 or 1500 points (in my game default value is thousand). Players score points for the cards they have taken in tricks or by declaring combinations of cards that they hold. In ascending order, the cards rank Seven, Eight, Nine, Jack, Queen, King, Ten, Ace. It isn't obligatory to follow a suit led or trump if the suit cannotbe followed. Play as you please untill the stock isn't exhausted. The highest card of the suit led or a trump wins the trick. Winner takes the lead, draws the top card of the stock, as does the other player and game continues. In case players have played face up identical cards, the player, who was to lead, wins a trick. When players take last 2 cards from the stock, other stage of play begins. The leader's opponent must follow suit if able. If the suit cannot be followed, then it is obligatory to trump. Having none of the trump-cards either, you can play as you please. The player, who won trick, can lead and then declare ONE combination. The player cannot declare combinations having less then 4 won tricks. When players have taken last 2 card from the stock, they cannot declare any combinations.

Trump suit Marriage values in 40 points. Double simple Marriage values in 40 points. Double marriage of trump values in 80 points. The Queen of spades and the Jack of diamonds is the bezique. Simple bezique values in 40 points. Double bezique values in 500 points. Magor kvinta (sequence) is ace, king, queen, jack, 10 of same suit. Simple magor kvinta values in 100 points. Magor kvinta of trump values in 250 points. Player holding the Seven of trump suit may score 10 points after he display the Seven to opponent and 10 points more if he exchange it for the original turn-up trump. Dealer can score 10 points in case he turns up a 7 to establish the trump suit. The player, who won the last trick, scores 10 points in addition. If menu item Points for Pictures is unchecked, Ace and Ten value in 10 points. The rest cards get to players no points.

TACTICS, TRICKS, EXAMPLES

All examles are from real hands of computer card game CARDPARADE.

4 JACKS collected

Here you see interesting moment of game. Both players tried to collect combinations. Upper player was concentrated on kins, queens and marrages. Lower player desided to collect jacks and aces. Both were succesfull. You see that upper player has 3 marriages and set of kings. Lower player has set of jacks. Lower player led in diamond king and then can announce combination. Upper player has very good cards: 4 combinations at once! But there are an unpleasant feature: he should catch lead from opponent. All cards instead diamond ace are components of combinations. Upper player hopes to save combination, so he waited a diamond and he got it! Now he can catch lead from opponent and save all combinations.
